Surge Alumni Impact is proud to offer sponsorships that support our alumni in attending some of the most sought-after educational conferences. These opportunities allow alumni to expand their networks and build new skills without the financial barriers of registration, travel, or lodging costs.
Each year, we roll out conference sponsorships and scholarships for a range of popular conferences. Below, you’ll find a more detailed timeline outlining when applications open and what type of opportunities are available.

ASU + GSV - If/when Surge is awarded nominations from ASU+GSV, the nomination process typically opens in early fall.
BMEC - Applications typically open late summer.
Amplify - Applications typically open late summer.

ASU + GSV Summit
The ASU+GSV Summit, co-founded by Michael Moe and Deborah Quazzo, began in 2010 with a collaboration between Global Silicon Valley (GSV) and Arizona State University (ASU). Our north star is that ALL people have equal access to the future, grounded in the belief that scaled innovation across “PreK to Gray” learning is the most powerful force for purpose, prosperity, and progress. Black Male Educator Convening (BMEC)
BMEC began in 2015 as part of The Fellowship: Black Male Educators for Social Justice, a Philadelphia-based organization built to continue the work of longtime, revolutionary educators like Dr. Martin Ryder and others, specifically focusing on the policies, practices, advocacy work, and impact of Black male career educators. Now, BMEC convenes Black men in education and those who support them each year to build community, support educational activism, and improve the lives of students and the school communities where we serve. Educator Leaders of Color (EdLoC) Convening
Education Leaders of Color cultivates and leverages the power of its membership Network to ensure young people of color have opportunities to build generational wealth and succeed in life. Convening annually, EdLoc is intentionally designed for senior leaders of color who are focused on dismantling systemic barriers faced by young people and communities of color in pursuit of academic and economic success. Amplify
Since 2017, the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and the Amplify Community Advisory Committee have hosted Amplify: Empowering Educators of Color for Student Success, an annual event that supports educators of color in the Kansas City metro area. During the event, thought leaders and practitioners from across the country, and leaders and educators of color in the Kansas City region, come together to learn from one another. Amplify convenes Kansas City-area educators of color in a space that allows for growth, professional development, and connection; by doing so, we’re also supporting Kansas City-area students.
